Sunshine Coast artist, Jane Welsh, captures delightfully candid images of your children while playing on one of Queensland's beautiful beaches. In oil or pastel these paintings transform your holiday moment into a treasured memory to keep forever.

All it takes, whilst you are on holidays, is one hour of your time on the beach and the rest is done in the following few months.

Jane, the artist, will meet you on the beach (by appointment) and take about 100 candid digital photos of your children as they play. The photo session takes about an hour and can be done on your favourite beach on the Sunshine Coast, including Noosa, Mooloolaba and Caloundra. You can choose a water backdrop, sweeping beach or headlands. Photos can be taken of your kids playing in the sand or in the shallow water, or both. Some parents have to have both!

Once you are back home, Jane will send you the photos on disc with the “best of” selected. You have the final say on which photos the painting will be based on.

Once the painting is near completion, Jane will send you a photo of it via email. Small changes can be made at this stage. Once you are happy with it, Jane will arrange for professional framing (if desired), packing and couriering to you at home. Paintings can be sent to any country.

Jane really enjoys meeting the children to get a sense of their personalities. She is confident in getting a good likeness of the people she paints. Click on any of the portraits on this page to see the original photos.

Prices start from $1400 for one child or $1600 for two children. This includes the photo session, the photos on a disc, consultation on which photos to use, a pastel painting (65 x 52 cm), professional framing in a gold frame (with double mat board and gold fillet, outer edge is approximately 85 x 65 cm), professional packing and couriering with insurance within Australia. Each additional person costs $200.

A $300 deposit is taken during the photo session and the balance is paid once you are happy with the painting. The price on oil paintings varies according to the size, and the number of children.

Generally the cost of an oil painting is slightly more than a pastel. Oil paintings can be done to any size and can be done on a single canvas or in a series of panels to produce a panoramic view.

Oil, sepia or charcoal monotonal paintings can be done for $200 less.
Charcoal or pastel paintings can be posted unframed, which allows you to frame them (behind glass is required). This costs $200 less.
Professional packing and freight (via courier), within Australia, is included in the price of oil paintings and framed pastel paintings. All items are insured during transit to replacement value.

This concept can be extended to other settings for example in a park, your back yard or pool, or a favourite place of play. Jane is prepared to travel to take photos of your children in a setting of your choice if you cover her travel costs (utilising cheap air fares ex Maroochydore) and accomodate her in your home for 2 nights.
